@windowpainting16 Sorry for the late reply! I’m from Canada <3 Any other Canadians out there??? Keep posting!

They were supposed to e-mail me details of the interview today. None yet.

@ameripen tell us how it goes! aaand what they say are you from USA?

Yes I am! I certainly will keep CC posted.

Is anyone applying to other schools? Exeter is my only ‘backup.’ lol. I will be unbelievably happy with either, though one is free and pays for my college tuition while the other costs $45k/year.

they’ll update us re interviews on thursday. it will be in mid-march at the earliest time

Thank you applesauce21! It’s this saturday already! I’m from DK, and I believe that it it very much easier to get into UWC here compared to other countries.

-200 people apply
-60/80 get a 1. interview
-30/40 get a 2. interview
-20/23 people will be chosen.

For all the american UWCers, theres a facebook page, entirely dedication to applicnts and admission!
https://www.facebook.com/DavisScholars

for a recap; I am in grade 11 but because of my birthdate i can still reapply next year. I’m from BC, Canada, and have not heard about an interview yet! Chances are slim, pretty apprehensive.

@applesauce21 I’m applying through the New Zealand committee Unfortunately here, there is only going to be about 2 people that will get a scholarship and that’s if we are lucky! When are everybody’s interview dates? I’ve got mine on the 9 or 10th of March. Already nervous…

Well done to you guys who got an interview! I feel so sorry for those who didn’t though, because chances are enormously different depending on the country. In the UK, from the answers I’ve had from my enquiries, it’s even better than where you are alpacallama:
- About 120 people apply
- About 80 get interviews
- About 40 get places
Like 1/3 people get accepted!!!

Woah! You are so lucky @Pashay. Here in British Columbia around 1 in 12 gets in.

All,

Just to recap, Kyle Bergen is a first-time junior American applicant from the Mid-West. He applied through UWC-USA.

@pashay wow 1/3! That is so great! Is that because they offer lots of places to UK applicants, but not necessarily scholarships? Or does the UK committee just have a lot of funding :b

Yeah, the majority of any college’s population comes from their host country (if that’s an accurate way of putting it). At Pearson, around 45 students are from Canada. So 20-23 scholarships to Pearson are given to Canadians and I think maybe 15 scholarships to other schools. 30 in all across the country.

For USA its like 600 applicants. 100 interviews. And 50 get in go a UWC somewhere

Is it really only 100 interviews in the US? Their e-mail said that they have 100 volunteers working with them for interviews. 1:1 volunteer:interviewee ratio?

Interviews work a little differently, but to answer your question. No it’s not 1:1. It’s more like 3 interviewers to one applicant. 100 volunteers could simply mean people who are organizing, interviewing, and helping to streamline the process.

How do we know that there are 100 interviewees?

The website says 100-125. Are offered interviews. I have friends at UWCs and they said the number is always very close to 100

I know, it’s a massive chance. However, @mmrnz13, as I understand it there are very few full scholarship places. So basically, it’s easy to get a place, but you need lots of money. :(
