How is UW’s engineering program? I’m pretty interested in aerospace, mechanical, and materials. I’ve heard that the aerospace program is sponsored by NASA and Boeing.

Coming from someone who is in the UW’s engineering program…

It’s pretty good overall. I think the aerospace especially is competitive. It was ranked Top 20 in the country last year. The other 2 are pretty good too. Overall, UW was #21 in engineering last year.

What about Electrical Engineering major?

^ I don’t know the ranking but EE+BME or EE+CS are good combinations at UW. I don’t know much about traditional EE areas such as power systems, motor control, VLSI design etc. I am told that signal processing and computer vision are taught well at UW.

UW is also very good at EE. It is ranked Top 15 in EE and is one of the most popular and competitive engineering programs. In other words, it’s easier than some other ones to get in (Like CS and Aero), however, it’s pretty difficult once you get in. That’s why it’s ranked Top 15.
