My DH and I are looking to get away for 5-6 days in the end of June by ourselves. We haven’t done this since we had kids 20 years ago. Some ideas we’ve been kicking around are Las Vegas, Key West Florida and possibly an all inclusive in Costa Rica or Jamaica. I would love some input from people who have any ideas or have visited any of these places.

Are you on the East Coast, West Coast or in the middle?

Destin, Florida is just about as beautiful as the Caribbean and considerably closer and cheaper. The sand is white and the ocean is a gorgeous blue/green/turquoise. I thought I loved southern Florida until I discovered the panhandle. (Winter is a different story.)

Have a wonderful and well overdue trip!!

Key West is my H’s favorite place and it’s ok by me. I have been trying to do a vacation for us in the late summer or early fall this year. Airfare has been really high though. Hoping it will fall, but not counting on it.

Personally, I would not survive 5-6 days in Vegas. YMMV. 5-6 days sound too little time for Costa Rica, so I would rule out that destination. If I were to chose among the other three, I would pick Florida in a heartbeat.

SF and Napa

I agree with above-5 or 6 days in Vegas is too much. 2 or 3 is great, though.

The best vacation DH and I ever took was to Bora Bora, but if you are anywhere but on the west coast, you don’t have enough time to make it worth the trip.

Destin is lovely. Seaside and Watercolor were great trips. We also enjoyed Naples, Fl.

Other ideas: Big Sur, San Diego, Carmel in California, Scottsdale and environs in Arizona has some marvelous resorts (just don’t go in the summer), love the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, and really would like to try a resort in Jackson Hole Wyoming some summer.

For the Caribbean, we loved St. John.

In Mexico, there are some lovely resorts in the Mexican Riviera.

Have never been to Jamaica, but have heard to steer clear of any resort near the cruise ship ports unless you find one where you are just going to stay on site and not venture out much. Not sure how accurate that is.

And there is always the cruise option-just pick your cruise line and ship wisely ;)

EDIT: just noticed you are planning the trip for the end of June. Stay far, far away from Arizona at that time of year. DH and I stupidly went during the 1st week in June and it averaged about 109 degrees that week.

Definitely stay away from AZ!

If you are considering Las Vegas, SF and Napa/Sonoma are not too far and offer much more than Vegas!

I also highly recommend my personal favorite vacation destination - HI. Any island.

Thanks for the replies. We are on the east coast. We did SF and Napa before kids and loved it. We did a cruise with the kids a year ago so we were looking to go somewhere new for us. The only thing about Florida is that after 2 days of sitting on the beach I’ll be really bored. Also, not sure what there is to do there after dinner.

End of June in south FL might not be a picnic either. We made the mistake of going to Sanibel Island for our end of June honeymoon.
It was very hot/ humid thereby often causing afternoon thunderstorms frequently. DH and I agree that our honeymoon was the worst vacation we’ve had in 30 years of marriage, lol.

How about Charleston,S.C. ? Kiawah Island [South Carolina Vacations | Packages near Charleston, SC: Kiawah Island Golf Resort](http://www.kiawahresort.com/packages/)

The City and the Sea package sounds great…

Puerto Rico? I haven’t been there but I’m sure there’s lots to do after dinner.

What about Bermuda? Only 2 hours away and the sand is pink.

I second Bermuda. It is so easy to get to from the east coast and a beautiful place to get away to. June is a lovely time to visit.

Montreal and Quebec City?

Dh and I are planning a trip there for this September. June is supposed to be beautiful, too.
Last year we visited Lake Louise and Banff. It was a magnificent vacation, but being on the east coast, it would mean a longer plane trip for you.

Hilton Head?

How about Maine? Arcadia is nice if you love hiking and nature.

How about Niagra Falls and Montreal? Those are near East Coast and lovely, even in June. Of course I love all HI islands too but ling plane trip.

Yes, HI is lovely any time of the year - too bad the OP is on the east coast. Someone recommended Riviera Maya… There are some really nice resorts along the coast, far enough from the craziness of Cancun.

Absolutely dying to go there!

Moonchild has good ideas. Love Quebec City and surrounding areas. Food is good, scenery is beautiful and people are friendly. Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick are also fabulous. I also like Puerto Rico- easy to go to. No passport needed, US money and many people speak English. Have fun- many places to go.
