Vacation ideas

We have never been to Hawaii @1214mom . Since we have beautiful beaches in California, it never came up in conversation.

Thank you everyone for great ideas.

I like the idea of Alaskan cruise from Vancouver @BunsenBurner . We never took a cruise before. I can get seasick sometimes, but maybe with meds I can be ok. Let me run it by my DH.

If you do the Alaska trip…do the land extension…which is well worth the time we hear. That will take your two full weeks in total.

Sounds like you have not visited Victoria, BC and the islands. Our family stopped in Victoria for a few nights and then traveled through the Gulf Islands by ferries for a week. There is also Tanimo (spelling?) that is a destination that our friends loved visiting.
Also, Vancouver, BC is a lot of fun.

The national parks in southern Utah are amazing. No cities to speak of in the immediate area, but you can begin the trip by flying in to Las Vegas. Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef National Parks are all beautiful and less crowded than Yellowstone or Yosemite.

A lot of folks have great ideas. H and I have done many of the suggested trips. D1 went to Patagonia last fall. It is a long trip to get there but well worth it, she said. Probably need more planning for that trip.

H and I just booked Alaska. We tend to put things off, so we’re lucky we could still get a, hopefully, good trip.

Last year we flew into Phoenix, Arizona and stayed at a beautiful resort in Scottsdale for a few days. We rented a car and drove north, through Sedona to Williams. We took a train into the Grand Canyon and stayed a few days in a GC lodge and took the train back out. We picked up our car in Williams and traveled back to a Phoenix through a scenic route. Got city and nature in one trip. And complete, almost, independence. It was wonderful.

Another place to visit in the southwest is Santa Fe, Taos and everything around there. The architecture is stunning and the nature is beautiful.

One issue with going to Patagonia in June is it is winter there now. Save it for another time.

^^Oh I didn’t think about that. I forget that the southern hemisphere is opposite seasons. I have dreams of riding a horse through the flower fields of Patagonia.
