@busyparent —what did you do to your Miele!!
My old one is 18 years old and still running. I brought it in for repair to a local shop and after they told me it could be one of two things, or both, running up to $350, I decided to buy a new one, since I think it was only $800. Later had old one repaired hours from here (family member) for $39 and still running strong. It now resides in the basement playroom, which is just as well, as it was heavy to lug up and down the stairs. The ‘new’ model must be six or seven years old by now and works great.
I agree that the electric beater attachment seems tough on rugs so only use it on the playroom wall-to-wall carpeting and not on the old Persian carpets or newer Stark rugs.
