Vacuum?

My old Electrolux has finally bit the dust and I need a new upright vacuum. Being lightweight (or at least not really heavy) is a plus as I have to carry it up two flights (from basement to bedroom floor). Also the idea of a bagless vacuum somehow sounds appealing but does it make a mess anytime you empty the dust? Any suggestion welcome. (I thought there was a thread on this a while back but I couldn’t find it…). Thanks in advance.

thanks @thumper1

don’t know why I couldn’t find it!

There are no good vacuums. Just sayin’. That’s my opinion, and I’m sticking with it.

VH, that’s what my Mr. B says. Therefore, he never does any vacuuming. Lol.

I tried the smallish Dyson Ball upright while helping some folks move, and I thought it did a good job and was fairly light.

Well, I always say that the main reason I went back to work after my children were born was because I didn’t want to be a SAHM and have to vacuum.

Got a Dyson when we moved four years ago (had central vac in old house- loved it). Too heavy for H, a small guy, gets all the dust and dirt. The reviews change and now I might have chosen a different model that goes under beds better. I absolutely love the bagless cyclonic action. Very easy to empty into the trash without a dusty mess. Good suction even when close to full (I empty fairly often because it is easy to do).

I would do the online research of various brands. No vacuum is perfect- choose the one that has your most desired attributes (including good suction and less than super high price). Do not go too cheap or lightweight as those won’t have the good deep cleaning suction.

Dyson pet vac worked very well for me and is light weight.

Absolutely love this thing. Can’t say enough about it. Lightweight, bagless, SUPER maneuverable, great attachments, long cord, floor-to-ceiling cleaning, converts to hand vac, just the best I’ve ever owned:

Dyson but there are lots of different models. Read amazon reviews carefully. mine has been worth every penny but the hose is weirdly too tight and makes stretching it difficult. i’ve been impressed with other aspects of it, including the pet fur attachment thingy
