Is Dyson the only manufacturer with the “ball” technology? We have a few tight spaces which are impossible to get to with our traditional “fixed wing” vacuum.

We’ve had a bagless for about 10 years, and no longer consider that to be a selling point for a vacuum. We spend a lot more time cleaning the filter than we ever did changing bags. Bagless won’t be a deal-breaker for our next vaccum, but all else being equal, we’d go back to bags.

I really dislike bagless vacuums. So much easier and more sanitary to change bags, imo.
I have a couple cheap Bissel Powerforce upright vacuums. They are fairly light. Only about $40 at Walmart. I’m a pretty small person, and I use this on my stairs. It is a little wide for stairs, but I make it work.

We got our D a cordless Dyson that rocks! It has a small head, so it was good for navigating around things in her tiny apartment. Not sure if that would work for Grandma.

My favorite thing is that it’s cordless and so you never get tangled and have to pull at that cord. That is what I hate most about vacuuming!

This Dyson is very powerful and has several attachments that are easy to use and it’s easy to click into it’s charger. Light and easy but you have to grip the handle to turn it on. No HEPA filter though. It was about $300 at BB & B but they had a sale and a special and I got it for about $200.

Here it is on Amazon. Not sure if D has the DC35 or the DC44. The video says that the DC44 is stronger but the comparison chart below doesn’t show a difference. That chart says that they both weigh 4.9 pounds but Amazon lists it as weighing 7 pounds (maybe that includes the charging station).

I get frustrated by packaging that only includes adjectives instead of easily comparable terms like horsepower. Give us proper stats!

That Dyson is nice…but way more pricey than most of the Sharks. I’m looking for something for my son…and over $300 is out of my price range!

That is why the Shark is appealing to me…but I would love to have additional, model numbers…there are SOOOO many to choose from. Did all of you get the NV351 Shark Navigator Lift Away?

I bought a Eureka 71B from Amazon yesterday, $40.
I need something specifically to do my carpeted stairs. This one is corded (bummer) but the cordless reviews all complained about battery time and that would annoy me more.

I have two Miele cannisters that I love dearly, one upstairs, one down. But balancing one of them on the stairs/landing is just not possible anymore.

Thanks for all the helpful feedback! I liked what I heard about Sharks, but Mom decided to order a Hoover Wind Tunnel Air Steerable Upright Vacuum, UH72400. I will add feedback in a few weeks.
