Vaio vs Thinkpad (both used)

<p>I’ve got a guy who’s got some extra laptops lying around. Seeing as how I need one for college, he let me take em home and test drive:</p>

<p>Andd… the IBM Thinkpad t43p (2. something gigs, ATI vid card, 75 gigs hard drive)</p>

<p>The thing is, he was experimenting on the Thinkpad with this matte spray on rubber coating, so the outside of it is covered in red rubber that leaves super sticky adhesive behind if pulled off. Not a big deal, but aesthetics (as well as function) are both important to me, and the thinkpad is hideous, lol</p>

<p>Opinions?</p>

<p>How do the prices compare? They’re both quite powerful and should easily handle most needs.</p>

<p>Looking at the price of the Vaio though, getting a new laptop will cost you approximately the same.</p>

<p>Thing is, the battery is messed up on the Thinkpad (only lasts an hour), so I’ll have to replace that too…</p>

<p>well the vaio will need another gig of RAM to run vista smoothly…</p>

<p>Put your $400 towards a new laptop. Don’t waste your money on his junk.</p>

<p>I suggest you get a new laptop too. Looking at the specs i feel you would end up having to buy a new laptop in you Junior year or thereabouts. Save your money, “invest” it in a new laptop.</p>
