I’ve probably posted in this topic numerous times my sincerest apologies. The main reason I want to transfer is because my current school doesn’t have a music program. I would like to further dive into my musical capabilities. (But it’s not my major) Could I stress this in my transfer essay? Is this even a valid reason to transfer?
I agree with @TomSrOfBoston, the California schools, neither public, nor private, are going to give you any significant scholarships to make California an affordable transfer option.
Sorry but wanting to transfer to California schools is still going to be VERY expensive.
OOS transfers to local California CC’s get their books covered.
Most California CC students have their tuitions covered by Cal Grants.
Being from PA means your parents have not paid a cent towards expensive California state taxes. The Public universities were created for instate residents and are funded by their resident taxes.
Transferring to an instate UC would still cost $60k. CS is impacted. Transferring to a CSU would run you ~$40k. All majors are impacted at the big CSUs. You don’t qualify for any California funding. California does not have financial aid for non-residents.
Most of the privates are impacted in CS.
I think you are wasting too much time looking for California schools and imagining that the grass is greener. Finish your degree and stop crying over spilt milk. You can move to CA after you get your degree and REALLY find out how expensive it is.
