Value of all 5's on AP tests

I took 6 AP tests and got all 5’s. How valuable is this in getting into a selective school?

How valuable is getting all As?

Valuable – in that it validates other areas of your academic performance. Congrats.

But the ultra selective schools require more than just academic excellence, you know…

AP scores don’t count as much in college admissions as HS grades, class rank, and SAT/ACT scores, and not as much as ECs, teacher recs, and essays at the most selective schools. If you got As in your AP classes, your 5s on AP tests will validate that your AP classes were really rigorous. That’s about it. Don’t expect the AP scores by themselves to carry you very far.

If you’re applying to the most selective schools, even a string of 5’s do not impress adcoms. Certainly it is a notable accomplishment, but taken in context of the entire applicant pool at top colleges, straight 5’s is a common achievement.

It helps, but not much. Colleges don’t even require APs. You can report your scores and the 5s are better than 4s, but that is not what they are looking for. Having said that, it is still pretty cool in and of itself and you should feel good. You will get some college credit and/ or get out of some course requirements. Well done.

Completely agree
