Value of awesome interview

Anyone here have any insight whether the very competitive colleges have some mechanism where their alumni interviewers can highlight an especially fantastic interview?

I know that most say that the interviews are not particularly important, but if you really, really floor an experienced alum interviewer, how much can it really help?

As an interviewer, I’m asked to give a subjective rating. So YES, if an interview is simply astounding, I can give it the highest rating possible.

It can help with a student who is on the fence in the committee’s eyes. It won’t resuscitate a folder that already has gone into the reject stack based upon evaluation of the other factors. With colleges with low admit rates, the percentage that doesn’t come out of the first cull is very large – so in those instances, even an awesome interview will simply be a non-factor.
