First NYC, now SF. Vandy trying a Northeastern strategy ![]()
I’m sad about CCA closing. First SF Art Institute closed, now CCA… ![]()
It is sad. Tough for specialty schools in today’s market.
It’s an interesting, somewhat bold Vanderbilt strategy:
Provide its Nashville campus students with opportunities to intern in NYC for finance/consulting and San Francisco for tech.
How so?
Colleges don’t provide corporate internships, and as you’ve correctly pointed out in multiple threads, students can apply for internships from anywhere.
While Vanderbilt doesn’t provide corporate or government internships per se it does have resources and probably alumni connections to help students gain an internship.
The Vanderbilt NYC campus will have residence halls. Vanderbilt students can live in Chelsea for a semester. The Vanderbilt San Francisco campus also offers housing for students.
Given how expensive rental housing is in the two cities, an internship (for academic credit or pay) is a nice opportunity for Vanderbilt students particularly for those that couldn’t otherwise afford living accomodations in San Francisco or New York City.
Not to mention Palm Beach, if you are wondering which way the wind is blowing this university.
