Vanderbilt Chance Me

went to a very rigorous/nationally competitive high school 9th and 10th grade. took all honors and got all Bs and a C+ in geometry because i became disillusioned and therefore became lazy. 10th grade went down the hill even more when i got a C+ in chemistry and a C- in algebra two. still all honors, but other classes were B’s.

moved over the summer and started junior year at a regular/not so competitive (but not a bad) high school (silver rating according to US news?) 4 APs, As and A-'s in them. Also taking honors precalc, but I have a B-. Putting in 100% of my effort into these classes though, i’d say.

So freshman/sophomore gpa: 3.49 (weighted)
current gpa: 4.310 (weighted)

predicted average: 3.9 (weighted) GPA (both schools use same gpa weight system) (i dont know what my unweighted is because my old school doesn’t even use unweighted gpas)

i’m not going to factor in my extracurriculars because theyre honestly solid and i would rather convince myself to not use those as a buffer for my poor grades freshman and sophomore year. (also for anon purposes)

SAT: 2120. stuck in between the gray area of being less than 2250+, and higher than 2000.
math: 670
reading: 690
writing: 760

so i’m trying to figure out where i even stand. competitive high school, lazy, bad gpa --> average high school, hardworking, relatively good/better gpa.

i went from a 53% percentile freshman and sophomore year to a 3% percentile at least. the valedictorian in my current high school has about a 4.45 GPA.

where can i apply? i want to major in communications.

top choices:
georgetown, vanderbilt, unc, nyu, unc, ucla, uiuc, uva, emory, colgate, tufts, wake forest.

also keep in mind that i am a girl + asian.

will be applying class of 2021, am a current junior

What is your unweighted gpa? That’s going to be very important. What’s your home state? Class rank? You need to provide more information to sufficiently rank you.

You can calculate your own unweighted even if your high schools don’t. You doing it by all A’s and A-'s are a 4.0
B+'s B’s and B-'s are a 3.0
Ect.
Unweighted GPA is what colleges, more often than not, use. It will let us better gauge your chances.

I will find out what my unweighted gpa is. I have percentile rankings which are listed and that would be my class rank. Home state New Jersey
