Vanderbilt Class of 2028 Official Thread

Without the FAFSA (many are still delayed) how do they even determine your demonstrated need? With the CSS?

Yes, with the CSS, which is typical for them. S24 has received financial aid packages to 2 schools thus far using just CSS profile and submitted tax docs. The FAFSA will be used, once it’s sent to the schools, to verify what’s already been submitted. My son’s was finally processed a week ago, but it’s not clear if schools have received it, yet.

It’s possible kids showing a counselor have had their FAFSA’s processed, and maybe those that have no counselor assigned, yet, have not.

Yes. We already have offers based off of CSS. Most privates don’t seem to care about the new FAFSA

We’ve gotten merit money/scholarships from privates but no need-based money yet based on our CSS

When did you all notice the FA counselor name? Has it always been there or did it just appear?

No name … I know what it means

What does it mean?

can anyone who didn’t apply financial aid see the counselor thing?

Nope

Didn’t apply for financial aid and no counselor.

Awesome. Makes me feel less bad about not looking.

Do we have any idea when they are releasing?

It should be either tomorrow or Wendesday at 5pm

PSA: Spoke to FA. They confirmed we have a FA counselor assigned to us (they gave me the name) but for whatever reason it is not in the portal. They confirmed that this does not mean anything.

For those who has FA’s name and email, can you register for Dore for a day?

If yes, then apparently you are admitted while others aren’t.

I don’t believe what they said. I think they are either not allow to release any information or just want to be professional.

I tend to agree you can’t take schools at face value, but I think you can in this case because at Vanderbilt, the financial aid office and admissions are totally seperated from one another.

To clarify, has ANYONE in RD who isn’t a scholarship recipient (or recipient of an early admission / likely letter notification) successfully registered for 'dore for a day?

I don’t believe there is anyone here or on reddit who can get to it as a not yet decided student.

Thought as much. In other words, the inability to register for 'dore for a day is not (as yet) a tell of admission status for RD applicants (who haven’t already received separate/early scholarship/admission notification).

Applied but haven’t turned in my docs yet and I can’t see it
