Vanderbilt Class of 2028 Official Thread

I have heard for some colleges that they assign an FA counselor bc of the FAFSA dilema - I know that was true for Boston College but wouldn’t be certain with Vanderbilt

and do you have your FA counselor info in your portal?

We were deferred from EDI and actually have never had a counselor in our portal, at any time during the process, and trust me, we were on the portal often, submitting updates, etc. I would have a hard time believing our fate was already determined from the time of the initial deferral back in December.

It’s so annoying. But I expect another rejection. I think No FA = Rejection

Has anyone heard back from their financial counselor if not listed in the portal? Did anyone reach out to that person and receive a response? Would the university assign a copy see to each of the thousands of applicants? Sigh :disappointed:

I suspect it might have something to do with financial instability, income, or LITERALLY ANY OTHER factor related to money thats NOT acceptance/rejection

Portal astrology for me has been wrong every other time ive tried it :man_shrugging:

i.e. everyone said no withdraw button at uchicago meant acceptance/rejection and i was waitlisted

Did you reach out to them? Did they reply?

Yes and yes

If the applicant indicated in the Common App that they would not be seeking financial aid, why would a FA counselor be assigned to that applicant?

Exactly

This is specifically about people who applied for financial aid guesstimating their decision

Did they give any indication that you were NOT accepted?

I personally do not think this has any correlation to admissions. We submitted our CSS months ago in preparation for EDI; it could have been determined way back then that we did not qualify for aid (which is not a surprise) and thus no longer have the need for a FA counselor. I have found that most other portal astrology had to do with the actual application portal, not with financial aid.

What would that even look like? I dont think they did

Just got the email from Vanderbilt admissions confirming decisions are tomorrow (3/27) after 5:30 pm CST.

I understand that THAT is the area that this topic has vectored into - nevertheless, how can FA counselor assignment be a tell when some (many?) of the applicants would have no need to have a FA counselor assigned to their account in the event of acceptance?

Perhaps this was addressed upstream, but it seems like individuals are reacting to this supposition without considering the fact that it doesn’t even make sense as portal astrology for a portion of the applicant pool. I don’t know, maybe I’m misunderstanding.

I don’t think it’s a tell. Someone literally called Vanderbilt :joy:

Maybe a very vague answer or something along the linesthat you’ll be contacted at a later date… not sure.

I personally think that there is no real correlation.

GS just received email
