Vanderbilt Class of 2028 Official Thread

How much time did they allow your son to decide on the WL spot?

Did anyone else get an email today, asking to reaffirm whether they wanted to stay on the waitlist?

My daughter did. Does everyone get that or does it mean something?

I’m sorry. I am sure your son will do great wherever he goes! Did they ask him to reaffirm his interest in staying on the waitlist before he got the offer?

Im not sure
they might have asked a few weeks ago.

4 days- he has until 5/6 I believe

That’s when they told me I needed to confirm whether I was interested on staying on the waitlist or not

Hi, Which program did he get accepted to?

Has anyone else gotten off the waitlist? It seems like only a handful of people have said they got in? Doesn’t Vandy let in like 50+ kids from the waitlist?

Our child did on may 2nd - I believe that Vanderbilt says they will admit every two weeks till done after may 1, so wouldn’t expect another release till end of this week. They also say that they expect 8-10% of the class to come from the waitlist so yes, that is a lot compared to other select schools but they don’t say how many are on the waitlist. Very very grateful for that ‘early’ admit, but tour guide we had said she had gotten off in early July. Our child was prepared to wait bc this was def first choice. Good luck and our experience was that the admissions office there is understanding and sincere, so reach out to your AO for these questions as the best most accurate reply would come from there, not a stranger on the Internet. Best of luck.

Where did you see 8-10% come off waitlist? Was that in the Vanderbilt Hustler article?

Yes, but if you want absolute numbers just go to their common data set under first year first time admission, and they report exactly how many students they admitted from the waitlist each year, for example 140 WL kids admitted last year and 221 the year before. But again, you’re encouraged to correspond with your AO directly as our experience was that they strive to be as transparent as possible and they do consider demonstrated interest for the WL. If your heart is in Nashville, then tell them that.
