Vanderbilt Early Decision 1 Chances?

My options are either Vanderbilt or Middle Tennessee State. I feel if I don’t try for Vanderbilt I would be missing out on an opportunity though even if MTSU might offer me a better living arrangement and situation for me and my partner. I’m really not sure about what choice would be the best for me.

I am a white male
I have a ACT score of 24 and planning to retake this October
GPA: 3.82
I believe I have two hooks of my mother passing away at a young age and me taking the role of the adult in my household, and another being the first generation college student of a low income family

Sorry about your mother passing away. I don’t think that colleges will see that as too much of a hook though The 24 is way out of range for Vandy. They get so many high-scoring applicants that you really wouldn’t have a chance.
sorry
