I’ve searched for the (approx) minimum GPA’s to get into these two universities, and I can’t find them. I know you have to be at the top of your class, and have remarkable SAT& ACT scores, but I really just want to know the approximate GPA of undergrad students who get into these schools. If you could answer my question, it would be wonderful.
& If you went to any of these schools, stating what your scores and GPA was would be wonderful.

You can find that info in the CDS at: virg.vanderbilt.edu/virgweb/CDSC.aspx?year=2007

im surprised they admitt people under 3.0

Well, given Vandy’s smallish student body, Athletes actually do make up a significant part of the number of students.

Plus, GPA varies from school to school. Someone who earns a 3.0 at McCallie is probably capable of earning a much higher GPA at another school. The weighting systems also vary greatly from school to school. Really, the GPA doesn’t say very much unless it’s used to compare you with other applicants from your school/district.

hahah damn, way to call out the athletes

3.7 is probably somewhere around the middle…there are a lot of kids who have 3.9+ but also a lot around 3.5 or 3.6

well if thats unweighted, then i guess my GPA is pretty good… THANKS. unweighted it’s well above 4.0…
THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSES!

I have always felt that comparing GPAs from different curricula - let alone different schools - is very misleading. It’s often apples and oranges.
At least standardized tests are…well…standard.

looking at gpa’s for colleges seems very misleading. some colleges have their own way of calculating gpas where they take out maybe elective courses. because high schools have such drastically different ways of calculating gpa’s i strongly recommend looking at different stats for schools.

the main point is to look at your school curriculum and your grades in harder classes. also, rank is so important to give meaning to your gpa. my gpa wasn’t that great 3.69 but i was top 15 in my class so it shows that my school a 3.69 isnt bad. whereas another school having a 3.69 can put you in the top 25 percent… so you really need to look at gpa’s in context of your high school
