Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2017]

Hopefully everyone was accepted into a bunch of better schools and decided to leave the opening for the rest of us

So that means the people who accepted spots, paid the deposit but don’t end up going essentially removed a potential seat for applicants in future waves?

I’m sure the amount of people who do that isn’t too significant but it does make me wonder if there isn’t a better system.

@AGoodFloridian yes exactly. I can’t help but feel a little bitter even though I know these people can’t help it, but if they really don’t care to go to vandy but they’re taking spots from people who really do want to go because they’re waiting for their actual dream school it sucks. i wish there was an official transfer decision date that all schools had to adhere by…

That’s why there’s a waitlist. Although I, too, really wish there were set universal dates.

i really don’t think they will wait much longer to send out the second wave because they know that by doing that, they are risking losing potential transfers from the 2nd wave to other schools

@AGoodFloridian Yep, and unfortunately I’m one of the accepted students that HAVE to be using this system. I paid my deposit but I might not end up going because I’m still waiting to hear more info from my other universities (information that will be the deciding factor of where I go), so I really can’t help but pay the deposit. Why did they have their deadline sooo early

There’s a waitlist but they don’t use it…

I suppose they could release a 2nd wave today based on the spots that have already opened up and those remaining (assuming they didn’t accept everyone they wanted to initially, which I think is fair).

However, the original information we had seemed to indicate the same as what we learned today, which is that the 2nd wave is predicated off of how many accept admission from the 1st wave. And if that is true, I would guess that we have probably at least another week of waiting.

My hopes aren’t too high anymore…

“While we make a large number of our admit decisions in the first wave, we do expect to continue admitting more students in future waves.”

i know this year is different, but in past years they accepted lots of people in the 2nd and even 3rd wave. don’t give up hope yet

@jinzo000 where did you hear that?

@amoore001 It’s on their most recent blog post about transfer admissions- on their website.

Yep, on their transfer blog.

Damn

@somehmonggirl If they don’t use the waitlist, then the spots were still full after people left and no one’s spot was “taken.”

@usualhopeful Obviously we aren’t admissions counselors and we can’t say what exactly happens lol. I was just saying how I felt which is obviously just frustrated and bitter at the moment, doesn’t mean I logically think things are how I feel.

No decision for my boyfriend yet…

Looks like no decisions today

no decision here either…

yeah prob nothing today
