Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2017]

Agreed… lol… sounds selfish of us to ask people to decline their waitlist spot but yeah…

Welp, here’s hoping for more decisions at some point tomorrow, even though I feel like the next updates are at least a week away.

Seems like there’s a lot more waiting for those of us with no decisions and those of us that are wait-listed…

idk about everyone else…but i got waitlisted. is that common for transfers?

it wasn’t last year at all. But it seems to be pretty common this year.

What a year for transfer students huh… Rice was particularly fond of the guillotine this year- they axed almost every single applicant. A far cry from last year’s thread.

@buffed57 when did you get your decision

Yesterday Morning

Looks like no new updates today… At least another week it is then :frowning:

Hopefully there will be plenty of admits from the waitlist! I’ve already started compiling “my case”. I didn’t fight this hard to give up so easily ;D

What do you guys think will happen with transferring credits? I will be transferring from a community college and I was told that they only accept credits that are competitive and comparable to vandy. Obviously, a cc is much easier and I am very nervous that my credits will not transfer over.

Accepted, was waitlisted last year. Keep your hopes up

@srubien That’s not at all what I heard. My understanding is that Vanderbilt is pretty lenient when it comes to evaluating credits for transfer, giving you pretty much anything that could be considered STEM or liberal arts.

So since I have been waitlisted, what do I need to do? The letter mentions sending them my new grades but I’m not sure how to do that.

@buffed57 Could you post your stats please?

Thanks!

Well Vandy does evaluate courses in terms of academic rigor, comparability, and perhaps, whether Vandy has that specific department. I took an animal science class back in my original school, which was denied for credit transfer because they considered it not rigorous enough. But I guess it was just that Vandy does not have animal science department

Accepted two days ago but probably not going.

I did enroll, but I will not be attending. Instead, I will attend Yale College in the fall. Though I obviously have no influence in this process, I really hope that my spot goes to either @somehmonggirl or @AGoodFloridian! You two are very passionate, talented people, and I hope that the admissions committee shares my observations. Wherever you two end up, you will be successful! Good luck in all of your future endeavors.

@bradthegrad2019 I saw your acceptance post on the Yale thread, Im SO HAPPY for you :heart: I cant imagine the joy you must be feeling and make no mistake- you deserved and im glad Yale was the one to tell you that!

Ill fight hard to get off the waitlist, and Ill let you know how it all goes! Thank you :]

(Ps, just let them know youve withdrawn the spot whenever you can!)

Got waitlisted. That’s what happens when you apply engineering. Congrats to those who were accepted!
