i am looking for a roommate! I do not love the idea of being assigned one at random. feel free to look me up on Facebook if interested @ Samantha Rubien and I am the one from southern California
What’s up all. Anything new??
did anyone get a t shirt as a transfer ? accepted one
@bobsmith5101 haven’t received my shirt yet either.
lol i want my shirt! @KRA123
@plzacceptme22 I’m hoping they send out a new wave on this upcoming Monday like they did this week; the waiting is killing me
@deterr right?! I was deep in the trenches of CC Vandy transfer threads and Vandy blogs and saw somewhere that “it could be as late as August.” I’m pretty sure whoever put that was toying with us bc that’s insane…but even to wait into June will be killer for me.
Any waitlisted kids hear back yet?
Also: Those who got accepted but aren’t going to Vandy, where did you decide to go eventually? I’m emotionally attached to you guys and want to know!
@somehmonggirl I’m still waiting on financial aid and a few other colleges, but I got admitted to Northwestern so I’m 90% sure I’ll be turning down my spot to Vanderbilt
@somethingscript you didn’t get a fin aid package with your acceptance to v?
hey does anyone know if georgetown or vanderbilt is more prestigious? i’ve been told to get onto wall street georgetown is better, but idk if vanderbilt is more prestigious because of a low acceptance rate/ harvard of south etc
I think that Georgetown is perceived as more prestigious in the east. Vandy might be perceived as more prestigious in the south. Or rather, in terms of the average person in those regions I feel like they don’t know about/care about the other. No idea about wall street lol
@somethingscript Congrats on NU! That’s a great school!! Lovely campus and town. I live a stones throw away from Evanston (sort of. Milwaukee is close enough right?)
@bobsmith5101 for IB, Georgetown is a highly recruited target school and has a big presence on Wall Street. Vandy is a prestigious school overall, but it is a semi-target at best for IB. Also “Harvard of the South” is a loosely used term that is only used for self inflation. It doesn’t actually have the same prestige as an Ivy status, so I would take that term with a grain of salt. Not to mention Duke students would consider Duke to be Harvard of the south.
If you are interested in IB/consulting, Georgetown or Columbia would be your best bet.
Georgetown = Vanderbilt in prestige if you don’t consider regional bias (and they’re close enough geographically that it’s probably still minor). No idea how Gtown places on Wall Street, but I believe Vandy is less of a Wall Street feeder than other similarly-ranked schools. I don’t think there’s enough of a difference in Wall Street placement to actually matter for employment.
do you think if I chose vandy, it would still be pretty likely/ossible to end up @ wall street… I wonder why it isn’t a target @Dontskipthemoose @usualhopeful
@bobsmith5101 it is possible, but just limited compared to target schools. If you are top student in your class with a good GPA, extracurriculars, and you network well, then yes, you could get a good offer from a BB. You might have better luck working in Houston or Charlotte or maybe MM on Wall Street. There is a pretty big difference between Georgetown and Vandy for IB, but if you get a better financial aid or really love Vandy, I say go there. Vandy is still a semi-target, so it’s not like it’s impossible.
Location works against Vandy’s favor and there are simply too many top programs. Ivies, Stanford, MIT, Duke, Georgetown, UChicago, Northwestern, Berkeley, Stern, Umich Ross, and a couple other schools. Even though Vandy is a top school, it can’t cut through the competition.
@usualhopeful overall prestige of Georgetown and Vanderbilt are similar, but for IB, what school you go to makes a huge difference.
ugh thank you @Dontskipthemoose what do you think about Boston College Caroll School of Management Finance major versus Vanderbilt?
also isn’t Vanderbilt ranked higher though than Georgetown? That is why I do not understand @Dontskipthemoose
