Vanderbilt vs. Georgia Tech

Physics major admit but don’t really know honestly. I’m not interested in Humanities, and Physics, Aerospace Engineering, and Economics (I know, kinda unrelated) are my top 3 major choices at the moment. I don’t believe price will be a major factor, although GT will almost inevitably be cheaper due to the fact that I’m In-State. What would you recommend?

GaTech is better for physics and aerospace engineering. Vanderbilt probably better for Economics.

GaTech physics department is nice and small, aerospace is medium sized, and both majors are rigorous for math,
but if you stay on top, you can succeed.

Vanderbilt is more of a pre law, pre medical pre business type of place, The Music school is better by far than GaTech’s. Vanderbilt does not offer an aerospace major or department, but you can study mechanical engineering, and add some systems and electrical engineering classes at Vanderbilt.

GaTech has one of the top aerospace programs in the country.

There are many more clubs related to technology at GaTech.

Did you win a Zell Miller scholarship from the state of Georgia? That scholarship can cover the entire in state tuition at GaTech, and you can use it for up to six years, as I remember. Some students take longer at GaTech due to the fact that they are in state Zell Miller award winners, and its a very nice program.

@Coloradomama I did get Zell, at least as long as I don’t fail my classes in the next couple months I’ll get it.

Can you afford either school? GaTech is a much better price, and you can get a degree in economics there with mathematics that may be very strong.

Try to learn more about physics, aerospace engineering and economics. Use the internet to search on DOE labs about physics. Use NASA, Lockheed Martin and Ball Aerospace to learn about aerospace engineering.

Economics is a very broad major, and can lead to jobs in banking, or later accounting, or in valuation and management consulting, and other types of business consulting.
