Was it an email or was it a phone call? @User74839264622
My friend who was also on the waitlist got a email at 1:33 PM EST today saying he got off the waitlist. he goes to my school so i hope that doesn’t affect my chances for future waives if there are any. I’m pretty sure there will be though. He is pretty wealthy so idk if there are looking at that more right now. he sent in one LOCI a couple of weeks ago but i have sent in multiple along with a recommendation from my vice principal and haven’t gotten an offer.
I got an email that I was admitted to the College of Arts and Sciences. I’m from the midwest, and before I got off the waitlist, I was committed to umich. I really love vandy, but I’m going to take a day or two before I make my decision on enrolling.
@User74839264622 Congratulations! I had to make the same decision (was also committed to UMich and got off the waitlist in the last round). Both schools are amazing so you can’t go wrong!
@User74839264622 Yup! I was in a similar position! I was committed to UNC when Vandy released the first wave off the waitlist, and I received acceptance to the same College of Arts and Sciences. However, even though UNC’s a state school, I really fell in love with the school and kinda felt like I’d do really well there - whereas with Vandy it was like: eh, higher ranked, could go, but idk why. I chose UNC - it was a tough choice, but I kinda just relied on instinct → also, a small factor was that Vandy was outrageously expensive and I wasn’t gonna stack up loans since i need save up for grad school lmao.
Anyway - best of luck to you! I know how hard that decision can be, but trust your heart!
Anyone here is an international applicant? I think most people here are domestic…I am Chinese kid and really dont know whether vandy will accept more Chinese applicant from waitlist this year.
What did you decide? My son is in the same position, he is committed to UMich but now torn between that and Vandy. Both are amazing schools but very different.
Would love to know which school you decided on and why?
@Ruby2727 I’m an international. I haven’t heard of too many internationals being accepted off the waitlist (in fact, I’ve only heard of one), but that could be possible because not many internationals are on Reddit or College Confidential. Let’s hope for the best!
anyone think there’s still hope of getting off the list? Vandy is my dream school and it hurts so much to have not gotten an offer over these 3 waves
There was a fourth (and final) wave last year! Don’t lost hope. Where are you committed right now? Try and love that college — even if it is simply to take your mind off this waitlist process! Good luck.
@td1234 Wow, only four waves? Damn. I am committed to SUNY Binghamton. I like the school, but Vanderbilt has always been my favorite and I did everything I could to get off the waitlist and yet still did not receive an offer. Oh well, I highly doubt I will get off in the fourth and last wave.
In terms of waves, there were only four, but a few people (like 5-6, give or take a few) did get sporadic offers in June. This year, I’d expect them to make some more offers than usual in June because more kids than usual may end up deferring their admission by a year, because of the pandemic. I think the deadline to defer is June 1, so I’d say Vandy will dip into their waitlist again then.
Don’t lose hope! And know that wherever you end up, you’ll do great things!
Hi! My daughter has been waitlisted at Vandy and 4 other schools. Between covid and this it has been quite stressful. It’s May 22, she has not gotten off of any of her waitlists, and I’m getting a little nervous. We’ve been in constant contact with Vandy- LOCIs, addl recs, you name it- and just crickets, and surveys as to if she wants to stay on. Anyone still struggling with this? What are your thoughts?
@Peachmom4 your daughter isn’t alone. For Vandy, i submitted a LOCI, an additional letter of rec, updated 3rd quarter grades, told them i would 100% accept my offer, and my guidance counselor emailed admissions on my behalf. Still no offer. However i was on the UVA waitlist and did nothing to get off other than saying i wanted to remain in the list, and i got off their waitlist. This whole process is so random especially for those who aren’t full pay like myself. All we can do is wait and hope knowing that we have done all that we could do other than willing to shell out $75k/yr.
Did anyone receive a fourth round of question of whether you choose remain to on the WL or not? I haven’t…just curious
@Ruby2727 No one has received anything so far. We might in the next few days.
based off of past threads we should get the email on the 26th
Yes, this whole process has been mind boggling, no doubt. We’ve been in touch with them weekly, but don’t want to be a pain?. She was accepted to UGA honors program back in March ( her safety) and today we went to walk the campus and just look around. She’s not real happy about it, but she’s trying to stay forward thinking.
No word from Vandy since the last 3rd wave survey. Good luck to you, and remember, there are schools out there who have already picked you! They want you, period, and there’s something to be said for that, you know?
Nope- nothing here?
