Vanderbuit Engineering (interest in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace) full-tuition scholarship vs. Michigan out of state

Accepted to Vanderbuit with full-tuition scholarship
(so around $20k room and board per year ) and also accepted to Michigan, out of state,
(so $68K per year total)

Michigan engineering program appears to be stronger, according to the ratings.

Other factors ( location, size, etc ) are positive for Vanderbuilt.

Opinions?

Thank you for any thoughts on this, always good to have other people’s perspective

Michigan IS stronger, BUT the question is whether it is $190,000 stronger?

For $48,000 a year less, AND an excellent college overall, Vanderbilt is a clear winner. For the $190,000 that you save, your child could do a two-year non-thesis Masters at Michigan, and still pay less money.

Vandy is a dream school for oh so many … take the money … you’ll love Vandy

What scholarship did you get? Find out what kind of internships Vandy students are getting.

Your not comparing engineering departments here your comparing ROI. Take the money and run… Throw some money your kids way to start a retirement fund…

There are kids who gave up MIT for Vandy engineering with full-tuition scholarship, so take Vandy. You are smart enough to get internships on your own.

Vanderbilt for less is the smarter choice here

Thank you everyone!
