vandy students I need some serious help on my vandy essay!!!

ok vandy students I need to know something very important about vandy: where is Cornelius Vanderbilt’s statue located on campus? I m writing my why vandy essay and I am referring to Vandy’s statue. Well I visited vandy over 5 month ago and I honestly dont remember the location at all. It would really appreciated if someone from vandy could tell me the location of the statue and its surronding buildings. There is a vandy statue on campus… right? :(

btw how long is the “why vandy” essay supposed to be? I am writing single space and will probably end up a page and half long; is this too long for a supplement essay?

The Cornelius statue is located between Kissam Quad and Vandy/Barnard…both are freshman dorms. I believe the little drive-around it sits in is considered the main entrance to the campus, considering the administration building (Kirkland Hall, the clock tower) is also nearby.

my why canderbilt essay was a full page single spaced. it should be 500 words long, approx. just keep it short if you start to write crap. greatness can e found in concise writing.

thanks guys

What is the name of the library at vandy?

The main one is the Jean and Alexander Heard Library. Or, as I like to call it, hideous!

not hideous at all!

Oh no…very very hideous! I took a tour of it at the beginning of the school year and the guy asked us to donate money (since we should have lots some day due to our Vanderbilt degrees…=) ) some day for a new library. I honestly think that building a new library is much more important than the Commons.

what is the one place on campus that everyone first thinks of as typifying the school? would it be Alumni Lawn, or is there somewhere else? thanks

thats a very individualized thing #18, you have to chose a location for your own reasons

As a student currently applying to Vandy i believe that one should mention a landmark in a school and connect with the landmark because the adcoms know where every landmark is but they want to know why you have chosen to mention a particular landmark and how it will affect your study at Vanderbilt.

This is my opinion if you are going to mention any landmark in any university.
