Vanity Score?

My counselor mentioned something about Ivies (ie elite colleges) wanting “Vanity Scores” on the SAT for each section. Something about elite colleges wanting to see above a 700 for each section just cause, even though there’s no difference between a 690 and a 700.

I beat 700 for each section, but I was curious if anyone else heard anything about this? Is there also a vanity composite score they look for? Is the vanity subscore 700 for each section? I know SAT scores don’t make or break admissions, but I need all the help I can get in my admissions profile.

never heard of it, but then my counselor doesn’t want us to go to good schools

Hahaha. Do you go to a public school? Each counselor at my school is assigned 250-300 kids Frosh-Senior. My counselor wouldn’t even give me the time of day, until my PSAT score from sophomore year. Then he’d call me into his office randomly just to talk. Funny how a number changes the way people think about you.

yeah I go to a public school, but each counselor has about 400 students from 9-12. She only knows me because I keep going to her to change my schedule for next year

tdn, I really really hope you are wrong because I have a 690 in CR and 750+ in both M and W… I would hate it to take the SAT again just for an increase of 10 points

NoxLuminous, I’m not sure, just something I heard through the grapevine which is why I wanted to see if anyone else has heard anything about it.

Aye, I scored 740 CR and 800 Math my first time, but retook it because my counselor mentioned the vanity score and Ihad to get that 680 Writing up.
