VARIOUS concerns about VARIOUS colleges

vanderbilt - social scene to structured, have to be in a frat to feel included, frats contorl campus

Middlebury - to much work

colgate - to fratty/jocky

bowdoin - way to liberal/hippie

carleton - ugly girls (not really a big concern though)

william and mary - no fun at all

hamilton - overshadowed by colgate

u can chance me to - in the chances forum (always a blast)

if you don’t like these things about the schools don’t apply to them.

no school is perfect

community college sounds like a good match for you
no frats, not too much work, lots of hot girls who have fun, not too liberal

jk but you can easily avoid frats, find somethign fun to do, find remotely attractive girls, and college is supposed to be about work so stop complaining

Pretty much any of those schools are going to be a lot of work, so I don’t see why Middlebury is singled out for that. Carleton’s especially known for stress because of its trimester schedule.

I went to a summer program at William and Mary and it seemed like it would be a LOT of fun! There are great volunteer opportunities and everyone seemed extremely friendly. Granted, its not an NYU sort of scene where there’s tons of action to be had, but it’s wonderful for a certain sort of person. And maybe you’re not that sort of person. So I dunno, define fun?

Bowdoin seems less hippy than poloed. But that’s just my Midwestern bias.

And as for Carleton’s ugly girls… When I’ve visited campus, I didn’t notice anyone exceptionally… unfortunate… What I did notice was that people wore sneakers and non-descript jeans and puffy winter coats instead of designer ensembles. The girls weren’t caked in make-up. The men weren’t bathed in cologne. It’s just a laid-back style. If your definition of attractiveness includes a deep tan (which, for white people in Minnesota is kinda hard to come by) and lots of make-up… then yes, Carleton girls are probably ugly. But by other standards, people looked pretty normal, earthy, and casual-- characteristics that can be attractive in themselves! Although, I might be biased in this regard, I’m going there next year, lol…

At any rate, if you’re worried about the workload at Middlebury, you should be worried about it at any place. Why this list of schools if you don’t want to work hard?

Only one-third of guys are in fraternities at Vanderbilt. There are TONS of parties on the weekends on any given night-- parties in Towers suites, Morgan/Lewis, Chaffin parties, and not to mention you are in the heart of Nashville with tons of bars and clubs. Btw, the girls are at Vandy are absolutely beautiful. I Love it here!

well clearly the girls are hot at vandy…

I have only known three girls from Carleton, and none of them were ugly. In fact, they were all quite attractive.

very good news

my brother goes to middlebury and i know he does not work hard at all… he gets As/Bs

hey, take a look into bob jones university:
no overwhelming social scene for you [no frats], nobody is liberal, and the work isn’t that bad either.

just kidding, but on the other hand why don’t you focus on the brightside and figure out what these schools have to offer? have you visited all of them, or are you judging based on what other people think? anyways, i guess at least figure out which one of your concerns is not as big as the rest.

I think you might be off in a couple areas. Middlebury isn’t particularly known to be a pressure cooker environment, Bowdoin isn’t any more liberal/hippy than most of the other elite LACs.
