varsity

for international students where the word ‘varsity’ is seldom used in high schools, how does one define ‘varsity’?

for us students… how good do you have to be to be in the varsity team? i suppose that’s a lil hard to qualify… but maybe a short description?

thx!

“Varsity” means that you are on the best team in the school that competes in interschool matches. Contrast with “junior varsity”, which is second best.

“Varsity” varies in quality. Obviously, at bigger schools, there is more competition for the same number of spots on a football squad, etc… I come from a fairly small school… varsity doesn’t mean a whole lot. But if you’re starting varsity on a team that actually performs well, then that’s impressive.

Thank you so much SonataX.
If I have indicated ‘non-varsity’ for a sport that I actually play for ‘varsity’, is it necessary/ worth it to inform the admissions office of the error on my app?

why not, itll help you
