Vendor (Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc.) Shipping Woes

I stopped ordering from Target for my household goods because of their lousy packaging. I would have liquid detergent spilled all over other items. My canned soups would be smashed in. They would literally just throw everything into a box without any packaging.

I use Prime to buy most of my household goods, from toilet papers to bleach. It really saves me the effort of having to carry all of those heavy items. Our handymen would deliver those packages right to my apartment.

Same experience with Target here.

I wish we got those proof of delivery photos on every Amazon purchase. One of ours showed a package left in the rain under a “no deliveries here” sign. Our security camera playback showed that the guy didn’t even look at the eye level sign, but just dropped the box and quickly snapped the photo.

I received an email from Eddie Bauer on Thursday apologizing for their shipping delays.

One success–I ordered pyrex containers last night about 8:00pm. They arrived on our porch (a huge amount and box)
about 9:00 am this morning. So many thefts in our neighborhood recently that I was glad to see them.
Our problems are typically with USPS and boxes that look like they have been run over. How do you think those tire tracks get there?

USPS has yet again screwed up a delivery. Yesterday, I received an Amazon package for a neighbor three blocks away whose house number is nothing like mine. I brought the package to her this morning. hoping that she had mine, but nope. Mine is missing. I logged into my USPS account and discovered, lo and behold, that yesterday they actually delivered two different packages at two different times. One from Amazon (the one I got for my neighbor most likely) and the other from DSW. Neither package is here. I’m on hold with Amazon who is telling me I need to give them one full business day grace period for the package to turn up, except that this is NOT a Christmas gift but a tool my son needs for his sports practice. I told him the reason I have Amazon Prime is so that I get deliveries in a timely manner. I shouldn’t have to wait until Monday (it was a Friday delivery, ordered last Wednesday) to reorder the package. He put me on hold to see if they can "make an exception to resend the order without waiting one full business day). Um, seriously? I said that I never had delivery problems when they solely used UPS for their shipments but now that they use USPS my deliveries are totally unreliable.

IN the meantime, I called DSW about that missing package and had a wait time of 26 minutes so I followed the instructions to have someone call me back. They will probably call while I’m on hold with Amazon. Also, when I looked at that order, I noticed that the package that was supposedly delivered yesterday only contained two of three pairs of shoes I ordered. The third pair is apparently being delivered separately by FEDEX and has a delivery date of 12/26!!! Um, when we were they going to inform me of that?

So in the last two weeks, I have had USPS misdeliver (or at least, NOT deliver them to me) four separate times. The email saying my order had been shipped does not indicate there is nearly a two week delay - the item has shipped but is sitting at FEDEX in Utah since last Wednesday. Why is FEDEX holding onto it? I could understand if my item was not in stock and that was the delay, but DSW already sent it out through FEDEX so what is the holdup? Grrr!

I mailed a package priority mail the Monday before Thanksgiving. USPS said it would,be there by Wednesday. I didn’t hold my breath about that but I thought Friday or Saturday after the holiday was realistic.

Well…10 days later the package arrived…and it did look like it was fun over by a truck or something…corner totally chewed up, packaged very smashed. Luckily nothing broke…which was a miracle given the condition of the box.

Never happened to me before with this. Usually packages to,this address get there within three days.

It certainly could be there in the next day or two - that USPS thing someone already mentioned about them saying they delivered to get “on time” credit when they haven’t. It’s frustrating. Glad you are calling them because hopefully they’ll use USPS less and less. Make sure you get some kind of credit - a free month, $5 or preferably both!

Thumper and others:

How do you survive without Amazon Prime? I place an Amazon order for myself or my adult children at least once-twice/week. How do you get things???

Also somewhat unrelated but another vote for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I’m not a a big video or binge-watcher but that series is fantastic. Savor season 1 and season 2 over a long cold weekend. You’ll thank me :-*

“How do you survive without Amazon Prime?”

Brick and mortar stores? I’m an Amazon Prime member but certainly don’t place orders 1-2x a week.

167 orders for 2018. 173 for 2017. I don’t know how many returns but a best guess would be 10-15%. Also, an order might have multiple items so how many items I have ordered I do not know.
I have discovered that they have a lot of clothes and shoes as well as my shampoo and books.
There have been many changes in the last two years and not for the better. I am careful to only order if it clearly says free shipping AND free returns. I really do not like shopping in stores  .

Also, many retailers have free shipping these days. Combined with sales (which is when I choose to shop), Amazon isn’t often the lowest price.

I feel like a slacker.

114 orders so far in 2018
119 in 2017
146 in 2016

I guess I’m a slacker, too!

22 orders in 2018
28 in 2017
29 in 2016

I’ve never looked this up before. I’m actually surprised I ordered that much from Amazon.

yesterday Fedex delivered a package to us that should have gone to someone with a similar but not really the same address. Sort of like this: 123 Main St. but delivered to 123 Mill St. Luckily the same town. I drove it over to the house it should have gone to, but really this was really sloppy on their part.

I started watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel today. As New Yorker, and a distance cousin of Jewish people (Chinese), I totally get it. It is very good.

Issue with return to Amazon. One coat returned in a soft wrapper. Three coats returned in a box.
Issued credit for two coats. While I might have mixed my return labels up it still does not work out to returning two. Assuming that was the box of 3 where did the other one go? It took ten minutes of indiscernible english but the refunds were made and case closed.

So, get this: to earn spare cash, D2 is delivering for Amazon. Just her and her car, a few hours when she wants to check in. I said, just don’t throw the packages. She answered that she puts them by the door and takes a picture.

Also saw, on my street, a Uhaul truck, then a guy stepped out in a UPS brown uniform. These folks must be crazy busy, this year. That scares me s bit. That we’re doing that much online ordering.

But I bought from two small brick & mortar stores today and each had plenty of customers buying. Maybe it’s the economy? If it is, it missed my bank account.
