Vent over plantar fasciitis and the cost of shoes.

I have a question. Shouldn’t we be able to go barefoot? Our bodies aren’t naturally made for shoes. If we do exercises to fix the inflammation we’ve caused, etc., and continue to do so, it seems always wearing arches in our shoes will weaken the tendon, not strengthen it.

OOFOS arrived today! Since I am not a flip flop wearer they will take a little getting used to - they ARE comfy, but feel so elevated!!! And the bulky look is something my vanity will need to adjust to. But they are just for around the house -since I don’t like to be barefoot. The size 9, JUST RIGHT!

I actually tried some on today. They are extremely cushiony and the arch support felt nice. I didn’t like the feeling of my heels so low though, at least that’s how it felt on my feet.

Yes, I would agree that my heel feels low - but I’m going to assume that’s part of the “beauty” so to speak and what feet will enjoy in the long run.

Anyone tried OOFOS clogs?

Regarding your question in post # 140, my guess is that barefoot is fine - until you have developed foot issues of whatever sort…at that point you have to do what is best for your particular condition.

So young pink feet??? Barefoot might be good on clean safe surfaces. Older feet? Maybe not so much!

I have the clogs and love them. I wear them with socks in the winter (mainly around the house/yard/neighborhood).

Did you buy your usual size in OOFOS clogs?

@momofwildchild

I got EU 38 M5-W7. I’m a 7 1/2 street shoe and 8 or 81/2 running shoe. I could have worn the clogs bigger, but this size is fine.

I ordered these boots from Nordstrom for research purposes  http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/birkenstock-sarnia-boot-women/4319535?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=BLACK%20LEATHER

They came in the mail today. Oh my…they are amazing! And so cute! They only come in the regular width and I wear the narrow. They are wider than my sandals but that seems to not be a problem. I will wear them with socks and they fit fine. I could have probably done a narrow but unless your feet are really narrow, the regular will be fine. They have a nice toe box, but don’t look dorky at all. I thought they were very fashion forward looking.

They are suede and so so cute with leggings and jeans. I ordered them in the gray but wonder if I should have purchased the black. I will spray the boots with a water repellent but wonder if the gray is going to show too many stains. But I love, love, love this boot. It is more than I usually pay for a pair of shoes (by a lot actually).

What do you think, should I keep the gray or get the black? I have a similar pair of black boots (Clarks) so that is why I ordered the gray.

Thanks a lot, @deb922 ! Now I’m going to have to go over to the other thread and add something I bought due to CC! Those are awesome. I think I’ll get the black. I love the gray, but probably would wear the black more.

Darn you @deb922 . Can someone be my personal shopper and keep track of these in case they go on sale??? I cannot express how much I like them!

I personally covet a good pair of gray boots. I think they are hard to find where as black boots are easier to find.

Or…you could order one of each…don’t tell you H I said so!!!

I ordered from Zappos. I looked all over the internet and couldn’t find any coupon codes for any vendor that would make these cheaper! They only had a few at Zappos. They will arrive tomorrow, but I’m leaving on a trip so won’t get to “meet” them until Saturday. I wear a 7 1/2 and ordered the 38. I hope they aren’t too small. I tried to order the 39s too, but they didn’t have them in black or gray at Zappos.

Haha @MomofWildChild, I ordered the black from zappos also. They were back ordered at Nordstrom and I didn’t want to chance it so I ordered from zappos. I find I go down a size in Birkenstock’s. I’m usually a 6-6.5 and a 37 in European sizing but a 36 in Birkenstock.

Now there is only 1 black left at zappos. I’ve found that it’s really hard to find Birkenstock on sale, they almost always go for full price.

Once I thought about it, I know I will wear the black more. I’m short and find that if my shoes match my pants, it is a better line. I really did not think I would like these when I ordered them.

I’m a BirKenstock fan, so I know I will love them!

Great looking boots!

Nice grey color, deb. I personally prefer grey to black - IMO grey does not show dust as much as black does. Had to laugh at your “research” buy. So whenever Mr. complains that I look at shoes too much, I will tell him it is for research purposes.

I would stick with Grey. Will be great with skinny jeans, black decorative socks and black top
. You can buy black boots anywhere. I don’t have a pair of boots like that yet, I might have to try that look.

@deb922 , how is the footbed inside of the boot ? Is it the same as Birkenstock sandals ?

Very same insole. They don’t have a toe bar but very supportive. Different boots but the Birkenstock website said on another pair of boots.

Footbed: Removable footbed - a removable classic Birkenstock footbed minus the toe bar.
