What is the Ventures Scholars Program?
The Ventures Scholars Program (VSP) is a national honors program designed to motivate and assist academically strong students, who have been historically underrepresented in medicine and the allied health professions, engineering, math-, science-, and technology-based disciplines, to pursue a college degree and a career. VSP is a part of a nonprofit organization called Ventures In Education, Inc., which identifies 10th, 11th, and 12th grade high achieving underrepresented students and/or first-generation college-bound students interested in pursuing math- and science-based careers, and provides academic recognition, critical information, and resources needed to pursue these careers. We accomplish this goal by connecting you with over 200 colleges in our consortium, find money for you to travel for free to visit campuses, find scholarship and grant money, provide you and your parents/guardians with advice on filing the FAFSA/CSS profile to maximize your financial aid award, and more as you begin the college-search process. Partners are provided with opportunities to recruit, enroll, and prepare Ventures Scholars for careers in these professions.
VSP has been assisting high school students in the admissions process since 1999. Ventures Scholars are awarded the Certificate of Recognition for their exceptional educational achievements. Moreover, VSP has a consortium of undergraduate and graduate institutions, associations and organizations that provide admissions counsel and opportunities such as Open Houses, Scholarships, Fee Waivers, Early Decision / Early Action, and Summer Enrichment Programs.
The most important thing about Ventures Scholars is that it gets you on the radar of participating schools. There are not scholarships or other major perks. You will receive some emails about different opportunities and it is something you can put on your college app. It’s an honor, but not a huge one.

Hi Entomom,
Should you check that Venture Scholars helped with your application when you really only added them as an official honor and didn’t receive other help with the application process? The venture Scholars website seem a little out of date. Do schools look favorably on their help or does it matter? Specifically schools like Villanova and Stanford. Thank you for your advice.

We have gotten some helpful e-mails from them -the e-mails are more current than the website. They give notice of diversity weekends and I think there may be some application fee waivers. It was so easy to enter gpa and scores and automatically qualify.
