Just a quick question before I tackle trying to get information out of Verizon itself. We got the message that they are adding a free 15gb on our account last week, as I am assuming everyone else did who uses it.
But it’s not showing up in my data.
Are others seeing it there, or nah?
Thanks!
I’m looking at the app on my phone…
Go to the main menu.
Now data hub.
It should take you to “overview” which will show your overall usage. We have unlimited data, so this didn’t change for me. They instead gave me up to 15gb on DH’s jetpack before the speeds slow down. Where I found that was going to “details”. That will show usage for every device on your acct.
Just want to thank you for this b/c it showed me that our 12 yr old isn’t using wifi. 40 gb usage in like 4 days!!!
Thanks. I know how to check my data–I do so regularly.
It still reflects our usual 4gb. That’s why I’m asking if others see differently. Trying to track down where the 15 is.
And wow on that usage! my whole family shares 4gb a month successfully.
I got the message too but I’m not seeing it added to my plan. I have to laugh though because with everyone at home using our WiFi instead of our data plan, we don’t even need the extra 15gb. We are halfway into this month’s cycle and haven’t even used 1% of our data plan.
Good point. I was just thinking that it’s nice to have in our back pocket. but maybe it doesn’t show up till needed.
I got the message but have unlimited anyway.
Perhaps we are the only cheapos!
On the verizonwireless website it states you will not see the additional data.
“ Yes, we are automatically adding 15 GB of data across nearly all of our plans, to be used between 03/25/2020 and 04/30/2020. Please note that you will not see the additional allowance in your My Verizon account online, in the Verizon App, or on your bill. To be eligible, you must be on a qualifying postpaid (unlimited or shared), Jetpack or prepaid plan:
@ChaosParent23, FYI my sister was having that problem with her then 16 year old. He was using a ton of data. What we finally figured out was that the WiFi to his room was weak. His iPhone automatically defaulted to data, hence the huge amount of data. He was downloading movies and YouTube and you can go through a ton of data.
Or he could have turned off Wifi. I’ve done that and been surprised later.
You can turn off the roaming on the iPhone.
I’m on a plan with my sister, her kids and one of mine. When I happen to look, my sisters kids go through so much data. We went to an unlimited plan a few years ago.
Thanks, @Mabelsmom – that answers my question and saves me a trip to Verizon online hell!
Yeah, doofus had wifi turned off. Thank god we have unlimited, otherwise he’d have a wiped out savings account right now!!
@garland, I’m a cheapo too LOL
My family ( four kids and I) share 15gb of data. Dh has his own plan through work. 15gb worked well for a while since my kids were basically in school all day or at practice. The only time we’d go over is when we were traveling but even then it was cheaper to pay the overage than to pay for unlimited data. But in the last year or so, my one son was the culprit for several overages (45 min drive to/from school and stupid Snapchat uses a ton of data I guess). Now he has his license so driving himself to school and not using that data. But i need to revisit and see if I can get us on a better plan.
We have a cheap plan also - got the message about the extra data and it is not reflected on the usage. chart. However our data usage is down to nothing as nobody is leaving the wifi house right now.
Just want to brag, my family of four–me, H and two adult kids, share 4GB successfully a month LOL.
