Verizon offers a new unlimited data plan starting tomorrow. Does it mean that we can disconnect our home wifi and use Verizon plan instead or the streaming be slower then wifi?
If they are not going to charge for overages but instead will throttle, that is not really “unlimited.” Is this the case or is it really "unlimited’?
I don’t see details yet. It will be offered starting tomorrow. I know other carrier had unlimited plans before, but I don’t have ny experience with it.
We have the old unlimited ATT, but they began to throttle a year or so ago, so I am skeptical. T Mobile also throttles, as far as I know.
I’m seeing alot of reliable info on Red-dit…
Oh, here it is…
In a statement, the company said that with Verizon Unlimited, cellular users would get unlimited data use on smartphones and tablets, in addition to video streaming, hotspot and calls to both Mexico and Canada. The plan, which will launch on Monday and Verizon called a “great value,” will cost $80 for unlimited data, calls and texting; or $45 per line for four separate lines carrying the same features.
There was a catch, however: Verizon added that after 22 GB of data usage on any one line, the company might “prioritize usage behind other customers in the event of network congestion.” Verizon added that it would maintain its existing data plans for those who didn’t want unlimited data.

So much for “unlimited.” LOL
I would not drop my wifi just yet…
The rule of thumb for Netflix, according to its own general usage statistics, is that is goes through around:
0.7 Gigabytes (GB) per hour of standard definition video
3 GB per hour for HD video (most popular)
7 GB per hour for Ultra HD
So if you’re watching a two hour movie in HD, the most common subscription, you can expect to use 6 GB of data.
For a moment, I got excited… switching to Verizon! But it is all marketing fluff.
