Buy the phone online and have free shipping OR buy it in your hometown and ship it to him. Then you can activate it when he receives it.</p>

<p>We had to replace a Verizon phone - long distance - sooooo we had the new phone shipped to us - did the activation locally and then shipped it to the kiddo - as DD’s schools is not in the network and could not be activated where she is.</p>
<p>Your DS can also just call Verizon or go on-line as well to order a new phone. Was it my any chance insured?? If so - you have to call them - and actually they can ship directly to him as well.</p>

<p>I agree, with above posters since son is in the middle of finals it may be hard for him to get a ride to west leb. He will be home in a few days on winter break. Your best bet right now is to purchase the phone at home or on line. Remember he has free long distance from his room so he can talk until the time he leaves campus which means finalizing his travel plans.</p>
