Verizon Unveils Shared Data/Everything Plans

We have our internet, smart phone and 2 dumb phones. My husband talked to two people and this would have our rate go up over 80 dollars a month and we would then have a 10gb limit. Now we have none. He is upgrading now. They are also going to put our internet on a separate account so if we do end up ever having to mess with the phones, it won’t affect our unlimited internet…

We currently pay about $185 for 2 smart phones (1 with unlimited and one with 2 GB) and 3 dumb ones. I’ve decided to upgrade my smart phone now to keep the unlimited and convert one of the dumb phones to smart with 2GB of data (extra $30/month). Our bill will go up $30/month but we will have another couple of years on the current plan. I really don’t want to lose my unlimited data - especially now with the new 4G LTE phones.

I have one more question. My SIL has a dumb phone which is due for an upgrade. If he does it before the end of June, can he get an unlimited data plan?

I just spent about 20 minutes on the phone with Verizon. We currently have 4 phones on the NATIONWIDE TLK&TXT SHARE 700 plan. Three are smart phones (2 have unlimited data) and one is a dumb phone. The customer service agent at Verizon says that the two smart phones with unlimited data will NOT lose the unlimited data when they chose to upgrade to new phones as long as we stay with the NATIONWIDE TLK&TXT SHARE 700 plan. He says it would only apply if we choose to CHANGE plans to the new Share Everything. I made a supervisor get on the line to confirm this info. So, there is no need to upgrade to a new phone before June 28th as long as you are willing to stick with your current plan. The new Share Everything really would not save me any money so it would be crazy for us to switch.

1234-that must be their standard phone-time! I just spent about 20 minutes on the phone with them as well to make sure that if I upgraded to the Galaxy SIII before the 28th none of my monthly charges would go up. He assured me that no, nothing would change (since I’m changing from smartphone to smartphone), but offered to upgrade/make the order himself so that he could make sure of it. We let him do it and he was VERY nice and helpful.

Interestingly, he didn’t mention the no forced shared data on the Nationwide plan (which is what we have also), but perhaps they won’t be mentioning that until after the 28th. None of our other lines are eligible for upgrade for quite a while anyway.

Onward, no. They discontinued selling the unlimited plan last summer. To be grandfathered in with an unlimited plan, you had to sign up for it about this time last year.

Thanks DeskPotato!
