VERSION 1-CR Discussion- Proessor and Caribbean/Creole Passage test

Can someone link the Pluto passage

[Pluto Still a Mystery 75 Years Later | Fox News](http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,147483,00.html)

It;s similar to this…

which passage had the question about the merry-go round?

The Pluto passage.

so it asked why the merry-g-round was mentioned? WHat was the exact answer?

I think it was something about a creative aside or something…

I don’t think merry-go-round was part of any question.
It was just mentioned in the passage.

Did anyone else get “to provide a sweeping overview” for the reason why the author included the 1930 date on the pluto passage? Because didn’t the author just provide the date when he was describing the discoverer of Pluto(or something among those lines, it was used as a description for some person/place though)"

I think the answer to that one was to show how long it had been. The author wrote about how the Lowell scientists were proud that they discovered Pluto, and including the date qualifies that.

Does anyone remember a question that described a model or something as “untenable” this might’ve been in my experimental CR section, but I cannot remember

Some of what I remember:

Short Passage - the guy/girl who wanted to chase spirits.
A. Dislike of constraints. The other choices didn’t make sense. And the other popular answer choice “exploring” was more like “Perplexing desire to explore”

Short Passage - Music as a weapon.
Q: How would the author’s description, something like “Music terrorized us”, be described?
A: Overstatement

Q: What word can “cramming” be replaced with to fit his analogy?
A: Flooding.

Sentence Completions question.

Sentence: something like “…_____ treatment, sequential events”
A: Chronological
Just to help people remember it: another answer choice for the sentence was cursory.

Long passage - Pluto.

Complacency vs. Apprehension. People didn’t feel as safe, and the word “perilous” was definitely there". I considered Ostentation vs. Humility, but the other answer fit better.

@DaveMerc

I agree with all of your answers!

Can someone please explain why the pluto one was describe issues of reclassification?
As today is possibly the last day to cancel scores (overnight tomorrow won’t work), I’ve created another chatroom for perhaps one final discussion.
[135jq - Tinychat](<a href=“Live video chat rooms, simple and easy. - Tinychat”>Live video chat rooms, simple and easy. - Tinychat)

It deals with the problems that come with defining term and “classifying” celestial objects.

@tbradsworth

Remember, you can fax it too.

@Niquii77
But the passage stated that pluto was sort of a satellite of charon, which would have meant that he was admitting that pluto was a satellite.

Bump for any other questions that people remember.
