S24 has been accepted to USF and FAU. Both schools are partners of Verto study abroad program. He wants to go and study abroad in Florence Italy. This will be for the first semester (fall).
Can any verto alumni or alumni parents please provide guidance and review of the study abroad program and especially Florence Italy?
He doesn’t know Italian (he learns French but there is no France opportunity next year). Our understanding is that the school is through University of New Haven and taught in English.
We’ve scheduled a family call with Verto.
Thanks in advance!
We’ll document our journey for future students.
We met with a rep when he went over the details of couple of locations.
Italy:
Expensive than Spain but less expensive than UK.
Spain offers dorms and meal plans or host family options.
Italy doesn’t have meal plans and they offer apartments. So, you’ve to either buy groceries and cook or eat out.
Researching online, alumni of florence italy are mostly positive about their experience.
Overall, this program is recommended by the US schools that will transfer the credits earned through another US school (study abroad). There is one to one mapping of courses.
S24 is working on the application to this program.
Parents are excited and planning for a trip around his school start dates in late August. We need to check the weather around that time in western European countries!
Quick update: S24 has applied to the program and waiting to be accepted.
There is a $500 discount to apply within few weeks and another $1k discount to deposit $500 by mid January.
S24 claims that he has started learning Italian
There is also a scholarship based on GPA, that is another 2-5k/semester.
Bright futures may not be applied, need to confirm.
Any updates on how his abroad time went? We are looking into this for our son
