Very cool move by Sarah Lawrence

DD got a very satisfying letter from SLC. In an effort to make the admissions process less opaque and to forge a connection, they sent her the comment cards from her two application readers (I’m sure they did this for all the accepted kids, not just her.)

What an awesome marketing tool! The comments were very specific, quoting lines from her essays and remarking on her specific ECs, grades, test scores, etc.

DD is savvy enough to realize that this was a marketing tool; all the comments were positive and any negatives were, presumably, deleted. But even so, it really made her feel connected to the school, and less like a faceless number.

Nice work, SLC!

Of course, those with more negative comments got rejected…

True, ucb, but I bet all the kids had some good and bad comments.
BTW, what year did you graduate ucb? Wondering if we were in the stands at the same time during ‘the play’? His knee was down.

Was in college a little bit after “the play”.

Yes, SLC must have done for all students, as we know an accepted student who received the same. The family said it really confirmed that this is the kind of place where people would “get” their student, and it helped the student feel connected and valued. SLC is a different kind of school, so makes sense they would do something extra/different to connect with kids who would really thrive in that environment.
