How much of an effect on admissions does having very few ECs freshman year have? Basically I only did 2 activities freshman year and neither took up much time. Sophomore year I joined several music activities and other groups, all of which I am still a part of and enjoy (3 of which I have leadership positions in). Do I look less passionate because I did not commit to these activities freshman year, or will colleges dismiss the lack of early activities as I was still adjusting to high school? Thanks for any answers or comments on the topic.

It doesn’t matter much… But it really depends on what school you’re planning on applying to…

Basically Cornell and Carnegie Mellon are the two schools I really like. My test scores, GPA, and all that are great, it’s mainly the ECs that aren’t that great.
