Very upset that my parents are victims of racism.

Maybe you can also try to increase their English fluency by refusing to speak to them in any other language. It’s amazing how much that can help a person develop their English.

I would have signs posted to clearly state the establishment´s policy, put a video camera in place, so next time when it happens everything would be on tape. I know many immigrants like to save money, but if your parents can´t speak English well, then they need to hire someone who does.

I also agree that the incident may have nothing to do racism. If a guy is rude, he is rude to everyone. This type of thing comes with dealing with general public and that´s why retail is so hard, there are just a lot of bad people out there.

Part of increasing fluency in a language is being faced with a situation such as this one, and learning the vocabulary necessary to deal with it. I’d sit down with your parents and write up a page of sentences and words to use in the event of another occurrence of this nature, both with the perpetrator and the police. Sitting down with the police and figuring out the specific linguistic, and legal challenges is also a great idea.

My$0.02, amazing about your anesthesia schedule. I’m sure you were tempted to whisper subliminal messages in his ear. Or worse.

GL Mom -

I swapped line ups with one of my partners. Wacko was none the wiser.
