Veteran/Special Operations experience enough to get me in?

Hi,
I am currently serving in the Army Special Operations Forces as a Ranger. I will be out within the next year and am applying during the upcoming filing period to attend UC Berkeley in 2021.
I have been discouraged from applying to UC Berkeley because I only have a 3.87 GPA and 1910 SAT (1300 excluding writing) and 29 ACT, but I have heard that veteran and special operations experience might help supplement those numbers when it comes to admission. Is this true?

Thanks

I would apply, but if it doesn’t go well, I would just do a couple of years at a community college and transferring. So, if you don’t get in the first time, all is not lost! I’m a veteran and I got into Berkeley after getting out and doing two years at a CC and getting my AA-T in Poly Sci with a 3.89 GPA
