Veterinary Programs?

I've heard that there is no veterinary program at Northwestern and I was honestly surprised upon hearing that. I looked on the website and didn't see any mention of vet programs, either, and I was wondering if you guys could confirm/deny this information or if you knew why this is true? Thanks :)

There is no official veterinary, animal science, or pre-vet program.

That said, advising is still available for situations like that, so that you complete the proper courses. I have a friend who is pre-vet. Though there isn’t a specific department or advisor for that sort of thing, it’s possible to do.

Anyone thinking of Vet school needs to carefully read this.

There are 28 accredited vet schools in the US: . Of those 28, 24 are state schools and 25 are land grant universities. NU doesn’t really fit the profile at all.

Look into the vet school in your state and choose your pre-vet program accordingly. If your state doesn’t have a vet school, chances are it has an agreement with a nearby state to reserve slots for its residents. Consider oos and foreign vet schools only if you have such a passion that you’d pay to do it–that might be (literally) what you’d end up doing.

Good luck!
