So I want to become a writer. Games like Bloodborne, is slightly based with some victorian era elements (clothing, buildings, ect.) and FF6 (one with Terra), with some steampunk elements in it. Point is, I want to write about different a genre that little to no people has heard about. Games are a big inspiration to me because I grew up with them. I take pride in playing a game and finishing it. Lore of the Dark/Demons souls series intrigue me because it’s so mysterious and desolate. Including Bloodborne.
I’m in my freshman year (I know, still have time) but I am choosing between three things to do. Writing, Music, or Culinary Arts.
@Somedooder what specifically about games do you want to write about?
For example, many games have parallels with classic literary novels - take Bioshock for example, which was loosely based on Atlas Shrugged.
There has also been quite a bit written about the worlds of all of the Souls games - check the wikis for more info. I’m fairly sure someone somewhere has written about the architecture and level design in those games.
A fairly recent topic has to do with AI in video games and how it can be used in research. Also recent are papers discussing computational complexity in simple video games, such as Minesweeper or Super Mario Bros.
