Would a small residential Businessman’s Hotel work?</p>
<p>I’ve had luck in the US with Vacation Rentals by Owner (VRBO.com). I don’t know what screening they do…but places I’ve rented have been nice and reasonable - and true to the description on the site.</p>
<p>Since this is CC…a lot of the “upper tier” alumni magazines have classified sections, and there are rentals all over the country listed in them. Here are the classified ads for the most recent Stanford alumni magazine, and, if you scroll down, you’ll see listings for vacation rentals in France.</p>
