Reply to Catscratch42, my son is currently an engineering major. They only have so many spots for each engineering section. Mechanical engineering is the largest section. Freshman year everyone takes the same basic coursse in engineering. The procedure for switching is to ask early on and get high grades and then if there’s an opening, they can move you. They do say not to count on it though. My son does know someone that was able to switch as a freshman. I’d inquire for sure from the engineering dept. but it’s different from other schools, in that it’s harder to switch.
waitlisted… plan on majoring in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience. does anyone know if applying as an arts and sciences major puts me at a disadvantage in the waitlist? Villanova is my top choice.
Hey there pandagirl567. I actually went on a tour of villa nova’s neuro. Department. There they told me it is one of the hardest departments to get into and transfer into (even once you are in the school) because it is so small and selective. If I were you I would email admissions to switch majors and have a better chance of getting in.
For Todreamsni, this may sound like a stupid question, but if they do, what major would you recommend me switching to, to increase my chance of getting in?
My son is a freshman in the Nursing School and loves it! Has a great group of friends including 2 of the other male nursing students (there are 8). Let me know if he wants contact information. Welcome to VU!!
@JaneenDougherty How many total students are there in last year’s freshmen nursing class? My son also got accepted for nursing at nova and is deciding on which school to attend.
Does anyone know if it’s possible for me to switch my major in my application? I’m waitlisted but my chosen major was Neuroscience and it’s super selective. If they do deny me in Neuroscience, would they still let me into their College of Lib Arts and Sciences? Or should I just try to switch my major right now?
Good morning: my daughter got accepted to Villanova but with the virus issue we will not likely be able to see the campus. What does your son think of the food service and also is there a small town and shopping area close to campus?
@JaneenDougherty Hello, just starting to look into this college confidential website. My son is a high school junior and planning to apply for nursing next year. Just a few questions: What are general demographic for the nursing students? Does the school care more on the EC side or more stats in terms of admission? Do they interview candidates? Do most students take minor ( such as Global health? ) Is ED or EA a must since Nova only takes 80/90+ students a yr.? How your son came to the decision of Villanova? My son took ACT already with 32 but will take it again in summer and hopefully will have 1 or 2 pt more. His UW GPA is about 3.9. His EC is okay but volunteer work kinda in Limbo as everything is canceled with the co-vid 19 and he didn’t do much before Junior. Thanks in advance.
How long does it usually take for their admissions office to email back? I emailed them two weeks ago and sent a follow-up yesterday about a waitlist question, but I haven’t gotten a response. I tried calling, no response.
@2bigkids Would you mind sharing his stats?
@KGP1988 GPA 4.2W, ACT 35, and 2 years of volunteering work at a local hospital
@2bigkids Thank you for sharing. That is fantastic! Congratulations to your son!!
Is anyone else having trouble contacting Villanova’s Admissions?? I’ve emailed them two times in the past month with no answer. I tried calling, but their offices are shut down.
Hello! Have you been emailing gotovu@villanova.edu? The staff is very responsive! The office is currently closed in these uncertain times, so emailing is the best way to contact us.
Yes! I’ll send a follow-up email, just in case.
@pandagirl567 can you post on here if they email you back, because I also sent an email 2 weeks ago and never got a response!
