My son was also deferred. 4.0 unweighted, all Honors or AP courses, 36 ACT, good ECs/awards.
Is it possible they are trying to force his hand into ED2?
Son accepted for Exploratory Arts. 4.0 unweighted, 6 AP courses, 1 DE course, varsity athlete, good volunteering, no test scores. Great essays.
My son was accepted to Exploratory Sciences. 35 ACT, 4.0 GPA, varsity lacrosse and football, 120 volunteer hours, decent awards, leadership and ECâs. From NY and CatholicâŠalthough CDS says those two factors arenât considered.
Wow, Was this business?
Yes.
Are all of you are EDs or EA too? My D24 applied EA and she received an email that her portal was updated with a status. Sheâs not home. Do everyone get the same type of email?
EA released yesterday afternoon
Crazy. I donât know how they could possibly look at that resume and defer your son. I know yield protection is thrown around a lot but what other possibility is there?
These are similar stats as my son and he was deferred too. I just showed him that others are in the same boat. Not sure what is going on this year.
Ours did as well.
My daughter has similar stats but got deferred from Business. Any thoughts on moving to ED2? Anyone considering it?
I know. Did anyone receive an email with âcongratulationsâŠâ message?
We didnât get any type of email but did check the portal right around 4 (I know sometimes if you check the portal, you wonât get an email)⊠Accepted into business.
As for the high stats and deferred, I know from my kid and their friends experiences⊠Thereâs been many instances where two classmates apply and the one with the higher academic and test scores is deferred but the lower one is accepted⊠Both kids are high stats but academic and test scores are only one piece, itâs a whole picture and the college finding the ârightâ puzzle piece. This is why so many high stats are applying to 10+ schools.
I agree. My son had similar stats, sports, ECs, Sr. Patrol Leader of his Scout troop and lots of community service and was also deferred. Seems like theyâre being really tough with business acceptances.
