Villanova University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

I would bet my life savings he would get in ED2. He would have a shot at all T10 schools I would think.

D accepted business
1530 not superscored
7 AP’s (3 this year 5’s on the 4 taken)
School does not rank
FirstGen
3 part time jobs (tutoring babysitting)
Started non profit, 2 high positions as a member in non profit organizations, athlete
Very well thought personal essay and I think great rec letters

I think he has a good shot at RD but you never know because the acceptance rate RD is less than 20 percent. With an acceptance rate that low, a ā€œgood shotā€ is probably 50/50 chance, maybe a little better.

I think he’s almost a certainty if you switch to ED2.

Good luck!

D accepted engineering
4.4 WGPA
6 APs, 3 Honors
Several leadership positions
Peer tutor in 2 subjects
Varsity sport
120+ hours community service
Swim instructor over the summer, works during the school year

Congrats to all who were accepted!

Has there been any word as to when the Presidential Scholarship Finalist/Non-Finalist status will be sent out? Also, are there any statistics about how many apply/how many are accepted?

The Villanova website says they receive about 2000 nominations per year and 25 scholarships are available. I also read somewhere else - I think in a prior CC thread on this topic - that about one third of the scholarships are reserved for underrepresented groups. And I believe I read in the same thread that about 60 finalists are selected and that all finalists that do not receive the Presidential scholarship DO receive a smaller merit scholarship. Good luck!

ETA - I just looked up the CC thread from 2017 on this subject. Some of the later entries are from Jan/Feb 2021 and it seems that class was notified of their finalist status on Feb 1.

Was the notification about the Presidential Scholarship in the acceptance letter or in a separate communication?

Maybe they meant US Presidential Scholarship - Villanova presidential scholarship announces finalists in Feb I believe. Then there is an interview process before final selection.

Sorry, that is what I meant. It was included in the admission decision.

Wow! Congratulations. Your EC sounds impressive! And I don’t know what the US Presidential scholarship is, but wow! I admit to being surprised by 2.9 GPA getting in sorry…just reacting compared to the normal stats thst get in. You must have done some super impressive things…would love to know! Congrats again.

The Villanova Presidential Scholarships haven’t been announced yet though…

Chance me into getting into Villanova ED2

91 GPA. 5 APs: Bio, AP spanish lit, AP Spanish Lang, Chem, AIC human anatomy, ADV english and ADV math all highschool. My school doesnt offer many APs US Citizen living in El Salvador all life. Female. Public health major but applied to Biology. My AP Bio grade this semester was 100 without extra AP weighted credits

Extracurriculars:

Shadowed surgeries in a hospital, internship at NPO for women w breast cancer who don’t have insurance, President of teens united for health club, 12 Executive government president, 9th grade Vice president, competed in a science international competition, medical trials summer program at Emory, founded a science magazine, squash recreational player, executive officer 10th grade

700 community service hours mostly in healthcare areas. I have a letter of recommendation from a Villanova alumni who is influential there I believe.

Freshman and sophomore grades were lower (90) due to emotional issues but junior year GPA was 98 and senior year first semester grades are 98 weighted 95 unweighted, so upwards trend in GPA.

Heads up. Presidential Scholarship Finalist decisions were released.

Not selected, therefore Villanova is no longer on my list. i have a strong spike in Classics with local, state & national leadership and awards + im an underrepresented demographic, so i was holding on hope…

Im hoping that this rejection doesnt spell disaster for more selective institutions/scholarships ive applied to :sob: especially because i poured my heart into the essays, and ended up using many of them for my RD schools

Im so sorry about the results! Just from reading your post, you seem like a genuine, interesting person so I wouldn’t dwell on this too much for other colleges. Sometimes it really just comes down to luck! There’s always more qualified people than available spots

Did anyone else that was deferred EA get an email tonight about Mid-Year grades? My daughter received an email tonight requesting them by 2/8. Not sure if that a good or bad sign! LOL!

My daughter also received a request for mid-year grades, but she applied RD. Wouldn’t it be great if it was a good sign?!!

We did NOT get that email - that sounds like a good sign!

Maybe your mid year grades are already in system? I checked the other day and our counselor sent first semester grades to colleges ten days ago.
