Villanova University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admission

Good luck all!

Someone else recently posted the 2023-2024 common data set for Villanova and I was surprised to see the acceptance rate for RD appears to be much much higher than EA.

As actually reported
ED acceptance rate 49.5% (820/1657)
EA acceptance rate 15.4% (2266/14667)
Overall acceptance rate 25.1% (5810/23127)

RD can be figured out by subtracting ED and EA applicants and acceptances from the total

RD Applicants = 23127 - (1657+14667) = 6803
RD Acceptances = 5810 - (820+2266) = 2724

RD acceptance rate = 2724/6803 = 40%

couldn’t RD include EA applicants who were deferred in the EA round?

I would guess for sure yes but don’t really know. Impossible to know how many of the RD admits werr EA deferrals. Even so I’m kind of shocked by the dramatic difference in the admit rate.

The Withdraw Application button is gone!

Congrats! @irish2121 My one piece of advice for you and any other ED1 admits is when ED1 housing opens up jump on it immediately to get the ā€œbestā€ dorm. My child (non-athlete) is there this year and it’s almost all athletes.

Thank you! What dorm would you recommend?

The almost universally acknowledged ā€œbestā€ dorm is Good Counsel because the rooms are slightly bigger and they have individual sinks (especially nice for girls). But to be clear the dorms are not great. And neither is the food. Ha! You have to rank three preferences and, in theory, one of your ranked preferences must not be on South Campus. (Almost all freshmen live on South Campus so it is preferred and they tell you you have to rank at least one that is not on South). Second and third choice preferences vary a lot. People have very strong opinions about Stanford dorm as either great or awful. It’s the biggest freshman dorm. If you end up getting unlucky and getting a Main Campus dorm (two of my child’s friends are on main) at least you have a 5-minutes-closer-to-classes walk. And it all works out no matter what you get. But in general everyone wants Good Counsel and everyone wants to be on South. And even though Res Life tells you it doesn’t matter what time your register - it absolutely does matter. If you want Good Counsel, you need to stalk the registration site on ED1 housing registration day until they open it. I assume they normally open it in the morning but this year they ā€œforgotā€ and didn’t open it until 3:30pm. Go Cats!

My daughter is in the Honors college and their dorm is Monica this year. The rooms are a little nicer than Stanford and it’s quieter. She goes next door to Stanford all the time to visit friends and her boyfriend, but she likes Monica better to actually live in. I think the Honors dorms change though based on how many live in it.

She loves living on South with all the freshmen. Her friends who live on main campus as freshmen are closer but don’t have the same community feeling with freshmen.

Congrats!

Does anyone think EA will come out before Jan 15?

Does anyone know when ED2 decisions came out last year?
