Villanova University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admission

Love the spirit, and can totally understand the anxiety and stress!

If you’re full pay and guaranteed yes they’re more interested.

also deferred. one of two big stretches for my daughter and the other was already a deferral. Oh well. It’s tough out there!

Daughter from an Augustinian high school with multiple APs all 4-5s and weighted well
Above 4.0 with a father alum deferred. Definitely tough out there.

Any school with a 20% acceptance rate is going to a high reach regardless of the stats.
Those deferred/rejected don’t lose heart. Only one acceptance reported so far with many deferrals; it’s as expected.

Deferred, business, 3.85 UW private school, 1450 SAT, 8AP’s. Totally expected as most kids from DC’s school are deferred in EA.

D25 deferred for the Business school. Was deferred for UT-McCombs the previous evening. Well, she has acceptances from IU-Kelley, SMU-Cox and Purdue-Daniels. No stress.

My son was just deferred, too. He applied to the School of Business. Over 4.0 GPA (his school uses a 100 scale, but his weighted GPA is well over 4.0), 1540 SAT (790 math), 6 AP exams with 4s and 5s, taking another 6 AP classes this year, 3 season varsity athlete, leader of largest student club at his school and started another one, and his counselor told him his recommendation letters were some of the best she’s ever read (he waived his right to read them, so we hope she’s right). It is indeed tough out there! Wishing everyone the best. You’ll find your place.

can you say more about the “switch to ed2” offer? is that something all kids or some get?

It is at the very bottom of the decision letter the kids have in the portal notification. I think it goes to all deferred EA students- we have it there.
Congrats to the admits in the EA round and good luck to all deferred!

DS was accepted - 4.0/4.7 GPA, 1500 SAT, 34 ACT, 13 APs, lots of research and tutoring. We’re hearing about scholarships being awarded; wish we were among them. Congrats to all and best wishes for those deferred to RD (we’ve been there).

Do accepted/deferred applicants still see the withdraw application option?

What major?

Did any nursing majors get in?

TBH, better choices

I think it’s to everyone, I though my it was a bit unusual at first but it makes since from a certain point of view. Tbh though I don’t see why Villanova has ea if they are just going to defer so many people anyways.

DD was accepted to arts and sciences and was informed that she’s a semi-finalist for the Presidential Scholarship. She has to complete the application by Jan 27th.

Congrats to those accepted and good luck to those deferred! The letter said it was a very competitive applicant pool.

DD has a 98ish average on a 100 point scale at her private school. Lots of advanced courses, leadership positions and volunteer work. She was test optional. She’s a very strong writer, so I am confident her essays were strong and her teacher recommendations were strong as well.

Same - 35 ACT, 15 APs (mostly 5s, 3 4s), 4.0/5.8 GPA, 3 sport varsity athlete with state recognition in all 3. Strong essays, etc. Accepted but no mention of scholarships
exploratory arts.

Son accepted to business school. Was a real surprise as he had 3 D’s on transcript from freshman year and ended up w 3.9 weighted, test optional. Must have been a compelling essay! Jaws dropped, tears were shed.

According to their 2023-2024 CDS only 15% of EA applicants were admitted and 40% of RD were admitted. They don’t report how many RD admits were EA deferrals but I’ll bet it’s a lot of them!
