Villanova

What has been your experience with this school?

Because my sons attend a Jesuit High School, lots of kids go there. They all seem to like it quite a bit.

It is an expensive school. If you don’t qualify for need-based aid, prepare to pay full price ($42,000 per year). Fewer than half of their applicants are “determined to have financial need,” and of those only 18% have their “need” fully met (includes loans). They give out a few merit scholarships (according to US News, about 5% applicants are awarded an average of $9,600, about 2% awarded athletic scholarships averaging $27,000). Their scholarships can be seen here:

One of my son’s best friends goes there. He was the #2 or #3 student in his class. He received no money from Villanova, but has very wealthy parents. He is a really great kid and likes Villanova a lot.

S and I loved Villanova. It was his #2 choice. It was my #1 choice.

He also graduated from a Jesuit HS, so the emphasis on service and community at VU (which is Augustinian) was very appealing. The business school has a great reputation; the staff seemed genuinely enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

S is also a big basketball fan.

Had he not been accepted to his #1 choice, he would have been happy to attend VU.

my d1 loved this school, spent 3 hours on our own tour, talked with the LAX coach etc…

however, she got deferred, waitlisted, asked to be put on the “summer wait list”…

very hard worker…4.06 cum…excellent AP test scores, tons of community service, trip to France for a month on her own…etc etc…but we are not catholic and we are divorced…

she will be happy at Conn Coll!!
